Head Lice – Causes and Treatment
Introduction of Head Lice
Head-lice is also called as Pediculosis, Nits. Head lice are parasitic wingless insects. These are parasitic insects and live in the hair scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes and survive by feeding on blood. Head lice is contagious from person to person by direct contact or caught from animals.
In the world 6-12 million people are having head-lice each year. Girls are having more head-lice than boys.Head-lice can found in any age group of people especially in age group of 3-11 children and their families. Lice are easiest to detect at the neckline and behind the ears. Lice are not spread to humans from pets or other animals.
Cases of Head Lice:
Some of the basic cases of Head Lice are as below
- Dirty hairs.
- Direct contact among persons or usage of others items such as hats, combs, hairbrushes or headphones, towels.
- Usage of others sleeping bags, bedding, cloths.
- Warm environment
Indications of Head Lice:
Some of the basic Indications of head Lice are written below
- Tickling feeling
- Irritation
- Rash
- Swelling on lymph glands
- Excessive scratching lead to bacterial infection
- The skin becomes red
- Sensation of some movement in the hair
- Partition or small sections in the hair
- Small and red spots around scalp, neck and shoulders
- On pillow you can see black fine powder which the louse drops
Treatment of Head Lice
If you got head Lice, No problem. Following tips help you to get rid from them.
- Apply mayonnaise, olive oil, and vaseline and keep it for overnight and washed out next day.
- Some herbal remedies like tea tree oil.
- Wash the hairs with vinegar which helps for killing lice within 2 days.
- Take a mixture of lemon and butter and apply it on your head, keep it for 15 seconds and then wash it.
- Make a paste of 2 teaspoon of lime juice and 1 teaspoon of garlic and apply it on to hair.
- Make a paste of bitter almonds and apply it on the head.
- Take a mixture of fresh lemon and coconut oil in same quantity, apply it on hair softly, keep it for 2-3 hours and then wash it.
- Rub listerine mouth wash on your head which helps for killing lice and nits.
- Take 8-10 almonds and make a paste with 2-3 teaspoon of lime juice, apply it on the scalp, keep it for half an hour and then wash it.
